I ran into this chart today that puts the current economic challenge in perspective to historical U.S. government expenditures (inflation adjusted). Very sobering.

Scraping Twitter for election Results

An interesting twitter hack by setfive consulting trying to predict the election through the voice of twitter users. It updates every 10 seconds, and so far it is all blue. Obviously, this is not a valid sample, as it seems that most twitter users are voting democratic. Nonetheless, another interesting use case of twitter, by scraping the mounds of data for prediction modeling.
